Dear ORHA Exhibitors, Sponsors, Show Staff and Vendors,

Since 1994 the Oregon Reining Horse Association (ORHA) has put on shows for reining horse enthusiasts from across Oregon and the Western US. Both the Association and the industry have evolved and transformed over time, but the constant has always been the sense of community, family involvement and the pursuit of the love of horses supported by all of you. Thank you for the community support that made the events so special for 29 years.

Since the onset of COVID in March of 2020, the ability of the ORHA to successfully put on events of a size and caliber that is associated with our organization has become increasingly more difficult. Therefore, the ORHA finds itself at a crossroads between making a change or continuing down a path that is not sustainable long term.

The Board of Directors met in November 2023. The Board voted unanimously to dissolve the ORHA and wind down all business operations by December 31, 2023. Year-end awards for 2023 recipients will be mailed, shipped or otherwise be made available to award winners in early 2024.

To quote Alexander Graham Bell, “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us”. Though we know the dissolution of the ORHA is the end of a wonderful era, it is certainly not the end of reining in Oregon. Moving forward, it is hoped there will be a groundswell of interest inspiring creative ideas to serve the needs of the sport of reining in Oregon.

Thank you again to each and every participant, trainer, volunteer, show staff and vendor for such a wonderful run. The ORHA could never have existed from day one without you. We hope to see you all again on another reining trail in the near future.
